Log Evaluation Training Courses

All the log courses are based on the Western Canada Log Seminar Manual developed by Bill Smith as Professional Log Evaluation Limited. Bill had many decades of experience in log interpretation throughout the Western Canadian sedimentary basin. His background in geology has given the material a distinctive geological bent. Dave's background in operations and interpretation gives him experience from an engineering perspective and balances the content of the program.

The courses are suitable for anyone who works with logs from the most basic use up to calculating any or all results available.

The Intermediate course covers the complete content of the manual. The Basic course and the Understanding Well Logs course cover a subset of the manual. In all cases, the presentation can be modified to suit a particular audience. These Custom courses can be built around material in the manual but can diverge to suit the customer.

Regularly scheduled Basic and Intermediate courses are held at the Petroleum Club in downtown Calgary, AB, each spring and fall. Understanding Well Logs is presented once a year at the CAPL offices but can be presented on site to any organization with a need. Custom courses can be presented anywhere and anytime, based on the client's needs.
